21 April 2020 update

Hello SMSA players and families

We wanted to provide you with an update on the 2020 Softball season as Softball MB just provided us with an update a couple of days ago. Softball MB has extended the hold on softball activities until May 31st due to COVID-19. This means that if there is a season this year, it will either be shortened, or extended into the summer.

Based on this information, we have decided to issue refunds for the 2020 softball season. We will process those refunds this coming week through TeamSnap. Refunds will take approx. 15- 21 days to appear on your statement. We remain hopeful that some form of Springfield Heat softball will be available this year, and if so, we will notify you and re-open registration based on the new season criteria.

We are not issuing refunds for those that registered for winter clinics. We plan to make them up as soon as we are able. Ideally that is this summer where we can enjoy the great outdoors. If not, it will be in the fall. We will keep our clinic registered families updated on this as well.

I know how disappointed many of you are about this news. It was a really hard decision to make but with the softball season being postponed by at least a month, we had no choice.

I am personally hopeful that Manitobans will continue to take this pandemic seriously so we can flatten the curve and get back to doing what we ALL love to do – supporting/driving/coaching/cheering/playing with our kids with the sports and activities they love so much.

I hope you and your families continue to stay healthy and safe, and please tell your players that we are going to do our best to ensure some form of softball is available this year.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. Thank you.
